Solar System tests disfavor f(R) gravities
Using the elegant method employed recently by Erickcek, Smith and Kamionkowski [1], on the premise that the space-time of Solar System is described by a metric with constant-curvature background added by a static perturbation, we show that many f(R) gravities are ruled out by Solar System tests.

متن کاملModified Gravity Theories: Distinguishing from ΛCDM Model
The method and probability of distinguishing between the Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) model and modified gravity are studied from future observations for the growth rate of cosmic structure (Euclid redshift survey). We compare the mock observational data to the theoretical cosmic growth rate by modified gravity models, including the extended Dvali–Gabadadze–Porrati (DGP) model, kinetic gravity bra...
متن کاملThe Earliest Epoch of Reionisation in the Standard ΛCDM Model
We show that the earliest possible reionisation of the universe is approximately at z ≃ 13.5 and the optical depth is τ ≃ 0.17 in the conventionally accepted Λ cold dark matter (ΛCDM) model with adiabatic fluctuations of a flat spectrum normalised to the cosmic microwave background. This is just consistent with the reionisation found by WMAP (the apparently earlier reionisation epoch of the WMA...
متن کاملFinite - time future singularities in modified Gauss - Bonnet and F ( R , G ) gravity and singularity avoidance
We study all four types of finite-time future singularities emerging in late-time accelerating (effective quintessence/phantom) era from F(R,G)-gravity, where R and G are the Ricci scalar and the Gauss-Bonnet invariant, respectively. As an explicit example of F(R,G)-gravity, we also investigate modified Gauss-Bonnet gravity, so-called F (G)-gravity. In particular, we reconstruct the F (G)-gravi...
